Burritos are a typical Mexican food. This dish consists of a wheat tortilla filled with various kinds of meat such as beef, chicken or pork. These cooked meats are usually the sole filling, and then rolled in the tortilla. In the United States, the contents of burritos are more varied, such as rice, kidney beans, cabbage, tomatoes, salsa sauce, guacamole, cheese and sour cream --- this causes the size of the burrito to be larger. Wheat tortillas are usually grilled or lightly warmed to make them softer and easier to roll. The word burrito, in Spanish, means "little donkey". This name was probably given because the shape of the ends of the rolled-up wheat tortillas is similar to the ears of a donkey. Or maybe a burrito is similar to the bags that donkeys usually carry in South America.

  1. You need 1 1/2 lb of ground beef.
  2. It's 2 of sweet italian sausage, casings removed.
  3. It's 1 of 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes, undrained, or 2 cups plain tomato sauce.
  4. You need 1/2 tsp of each onion powder, pepper, garlic salt, & basil.
  5. It's 1 tsp of each oregano & sugar.
  6. It's 1 of chili powder to taste.
  7. Prepare 1/2 cup of chopped raw onion.
  8. Prepare 2 cup of chicken broth.
  9. You need 1 cup of uncooked minute rice.
  10. It's 1 1/2 cup of extra sharp cheddar cheese, shredded.
  11. It's 10 medium of or large soft tortillas.
  12. You need 1 of shredded taco blend cheese to taste.

Beef Burritos step by step

  1. In skillet, brown beef and sausage, breaking up with spatula as you go along. Drain grease, return to skillet.
  2. Add tomatoes, herbs & spices, sugar, onion, broth and rice. Simmer covered, about 10 minutes, until rice is tender. Stir frequently.
  3. Stir in cheddar cheese and mix well.
  4. Warm tortillas per package instructions and fill with meat mixture.
  5. Sprinkle with taco cheese and roll up. If desired, fry lightly on both sides in oil of your choice til golden brown. Enjoy!.
